The ideas of collaboration goes beyond 'working together’. Successful collaboration requires a cooperative spirit and mutual respect. Building collaboration means building trust. Those most effective at building trust know how to understand a variety of perspectives, manage priorities from everyone in the group, and then decisively meet expectations as a reliable member of a team. Workplace failures can happen when collaboration and team skills are absent. Without strong collaboration and communication skills, you can lose productivity and money. Some other factors that can potentially tank a team include:
We don't always choose the people we have to get along with to do the work we need to do. So it's only natural that we will experience tensions, problems, and conflicts as we work with others. But if we can learn to be more consciously aware of our own habitual patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, we take a huge first step toward being more mindfully aware of what is happening between ourselves and others, and being able to talk about it with more confidence and openness.
As part of the workshop, we will also be using the TEAMcolors methodology to help individuals understand the way they process information genetically affects the way they communicate with the world around them.
In particular, by developing a greater level of conscious awareness of your own working style - it can help you understand your blind spots, emotional blockages around the way you relate to co-workers and clients. Understanding where others come from can also help you become more compassionate towards them, judge others less, and at the same time gain clarity about what you value in your working relationship and create more wins and effective collaborations!
- Lack of ownership or engagement among team members
- Conflicting styles of leadership and decision making
- Lack in interpersonal relationship and communication skills
- Employees feeling unmotivated
- Blame versus psychological safety culture
- Low emotional intelligence and self-awareness
